My name is Heather Rose MacGordon in the SCA. I am Heather Otis to the rest of the world. I have been a member of the SCA since 2003. I used to go to local meetings in spring 1996 and fall 1997 at SUNY New Paltz and went to my first event in fall 1997, but then did not go again until 2003.
I learned embroidery in 2003 at an local A&S meeting.
I learned calligraphy and illumination in 1989 in high school.
I learned bookbinding in 2005 at a Bergental event.
I learned to spin at a Wednesday night Spinny night in January 2009.
I learned to weave in fall of 2009, self taught and lots of questions.
I learned to sew in 1986 in a Home Economics class (though my mother has insisted that she tried to teach me at age 8. I don't remember, but I promised to put something on here about it.)
I learned to make cordials at an Anglespur event in 2010.
I have mastered none of my skills, but I hope I never feel I had. I believe that no matter how good you may get, there is alway something new to learn. And I just keep learning. My interests are varied. My skills have a wide range. But my soul belongs to the scribal arts and the books they inhabit.
I might be able to sew, but I know I don't sew well. So please forgive my crappy garb, and just enjoy everything else that I have done.
